Greasy Pop bands

Kasavett

KASAVETT

For those in the know, Adelaide is a fertile breeding ground for undiscovered pop, rock and punk bands. One such band doing the hard yards away from the spotlight is KASAVETT (formally known as Everest) - that, however, is all about to change. The core of KASAVETT is Dan (vox/guitar), Phil (bass/vox), Silvano (drums), and together they’ve developed a powerful, energetic sound that has impressed punters around the country.

Formed at the beginning of 2003, the boys wasted no time in pushing their take on alternative rock in front of people’s faces - and for a band that hadn’t been around long, managed to play some awesome rocking shows with the likes of Spiderbait, Frenz Rhomb and Dallas Crane.

The 2004 ‘Panic Attack’ EP helped to kick things up a notch as well, with live fave ‘Anode’ getting a spin on Triple J’s Home and Hosed with Robbie Buck, while ‘She Lights Me’ was picked up and placed on rotation by UK station Pulse FM and ‘Leave it to me’ getting heavy play on a number of regional Oz stations.

2005 has been a massive year for the KASAVETT crew, playing to thousands people and sharing stages with Shihad, Grinspoon, Rocket Science, Killing Heidi, Thirsty Merc, The Mess Hall, Betchadupa, The Cant’s and the Spazzys, as well as top Adelaide band the Hot Lies - and KASAVETT have done it the hard way, hitting the country and playing gigs from Cummins on the South Oz Eyre Peninsula to Nimbin and Bryon Bay, Wodonga, Warrnambool, Geelong and Melbourne.

Fear in Dakota

Conceived in 2003 by the Elliot brothers, Fear in Dakota has built a reputation around Adelaide for their diverse, eclectic blend of guitar driven rock. Fear in Dakota’s music crosses the boundaries by delving into funk, acoustic, reggae and instrumental elements combined with soothing harmonic melodies.

Fear in Dakota released their debut album 'Laundry sessions' and EP 'Full Circles' in 2004. Both Barry and Simon were nominated in the South Australian Music Industry Awards for Best guitarist and Best Bass player and Barry took out the award for Best Guitarist.

2005 has seen more exiting developments. Fear in Dakota were one of fifteen bands accepted nationally to take part in www.itribe.com pilot program to trial their new online independent music retail system; ‘Select, Text, Go!’. The lads have also had their instrumental ‘Liquid Courage’ included on the soundtrack of the ‘Coconet Classic 2005 Tannum Sands World Kite Surfing Championship’ documentary, which will be screened throughout November on Foxtel to an estimated audience of over 200,000.

So what's in store for the future?
In the coming months Fear in Dakota will record a clip for the single 'To My Knees' which will be directed by Warren Melling and filmed in various locations around South Australia. There will also be a DVD/Audio recording of their CD Launch at the Wheatsheaf Hotel Nov 5th, which should see the light of day in the summer 2005/2006. Further recording is planned for 2006, while Fear in Dakota will continue promoting themselves and establishing a strong network both interstate and overseas.

Within a year bedhed had recorded an album at Big Sound Studios. Entitled Turmoil, the CD was promoted and distributed extensively throughout Europe on the Zuma Records label.

Susie DaviesSalty

The songs are lyric and melody driven, finding stories in people’s faces, her own life and those around her, the music carries a deeper message when scratched under the surface.

Refreshingly different, surprisingly honest “with a vocal ability that would make anyone melt”

PunpernickelPumpernickel

Pumpernickel are a young South Australian band who formed on the 9th of November of 2003, one week before their first gig.

Their line up was:
Kris Barry - vocals
Jason Coomber - guitar
Joel Torres - guitar
Dan Coomber - bass
Josh Scholz - drums

They were together for about a year, before their line up changed. At the end of that year Pumpernickel and Josh Scholz departed. Now they have a new drummer by the name of Sam Wright. But in that year Pumpernickel achieved recording a 4 track ep. and selling around 300 of them locally. They also played around 30 gigs.

TidalTidal

The first Tidal warning was sounded from Adelaide, South Australia in 2000, evolving since then into it's current form of Joe Binetti - lead vocals / guitar, Adam Binetti - bass / vocals, Rory Chenoweth - guitars / vocals, and drummer Paul Lewis.

Tidal combines the sounds of industrial, metal and rapcore, with a dynamic, must-see live act that features an amazing UV fluorescent lighting, and high-energy stage presentation.

Tidal's powerful debut EP ULTRA VIOLET, launched in 2002, was met with immediate industry approval. A crowd of over 400 attended its launch and the EP achieved top 10 positions on three major SA charts.

ULTRA VIOLET also attracted airplay and live performances on National radio Triple J and other prominent Australian radio stations. The opening track 'Swell' was the soundtrack for the 2003 Ibanez Television commercial and 'Behind the Mask' was the most played track on 3D Radio's 2003 'Powersurge' program. This all ensured a first pressing sell-out, with demand for a second limited edition repress, featuring a bonus Multimedia CD Rom.

Tidal's popular and much talked-about performance at the 2004 Big Day Out is a highlight on its growing list of high profile performances, with bands such as Pacifier, Superhiest and Testeagles.
